Back In Action

While spending some time on a distant island with some friends I discovered a new type of architecture - Tropical Spartan? -

While this works in a tropical climate, I had a feeling this might leave much to be desired in a New England climate - so I'm sticking with the original design, for now. However, I was inspired a bit by this guy's house -

He always has a place to stay, wherever he goes. He never has to worry about returning to where he woke up. He can just walk...and who knows where he'll end up. I wonder what a human version of this would look like. I drew out some sketches and ended up with a bent plywood piece of furniture I would like to build - more on this when the house and shower situation is sorted. I did invent and implement a new type of clothes rack technology -

I thought this looked like a commercial for a product claiming to smell like this so I had to add it. The clothes did not smell like the meadow when dry.

I was surprised how many new things there were after being gone for only 3 days. Leaves are coming out of their buds and with the help of a friend discovered some new PR species I was unaware of. A cherry tree, in bloom-

A wild strawberry -

A toad (not frog) -

Violet-

And some moss (which looks amazing up close). I'm going to try to cultivate this moss into a type of 'lawn'. And blanket a whole area with it. This will take time-

Also, getting closer to a water/shower solution. Now the plan is to keep a large reservoir of water perched on Reliance Rock. It will supply needed pressure, collection and filtration and also add a waterfall shower feature. Check it out -

This is the northern wall of the rock. It is a sheer face, and the surface on the top is such that it channels water over this face like a showerhead. It took an observant FOPR to notice this feature. Another benefit is that the water catchment will double as a shelter around the fire if it were to rain.

Also, the birds weren't around the feeders and I noticed they ate all the black seed until the corn clogged the feeder, and then gave up. No more corn in bird feed.

Back to work tomorrow - roof rafters and gardening...

  1. haha, that really did look like a commercial shot for some dryer sheet or something. every time you shower with water pouring off that rock you're also going to look like you're in some sort of soap commercial with 'fresh mountain scent'!
Maybe you should leave the corn, those birds can't have it too easy!

  3. How'd your spinach planting go today? Or do you stay in and practice your calligraphy and Portuguese on rainy days? Either way, can’t wait to see the progress.
